19th to 23rd May – His Beatitude Maronite Patriarch and Cardinal, Bechara Peter Rai, for the first time visited the Lebanese Community in South Africa. He inaugurated the Sports Facility and blessed the Foundation Stone of the Community Center & Hall at Our Lady of Lebanon, church and school in Mulbarton. On the 2nd August, Fr Maurice Chidiac was appointed Head of the Maronite Mission in SA. On the 14th October, Fr Georges Arrouk joined the Mission.
